Jeanette received a Bachelors Degree from Olivet Nazarene University majoring in Psychology and Christian Education. She graduated with honors from Bradley University with a Masters Degree in Community/Agency Counseling.
Jeanette’s passion is to help clients discover meaning in and solutions for the challenges of life, by facilitating growth in all of life’s domains. She enjoys providing couple’s therapy, working with blended families and helping individuals cope with the stresses of life. She utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy along with components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for individuals with more pervasive mood and interpersonal relationship issues. Her experience has leaned toward working with couples, blended families and individuals with anxiety, bipolar, borderline personality and depressive disorders. She has also worked with individuals who are court appointed for prescribed behavioral management.
Jeanette’s experience includes supervising a Residential Treatment Unit (RTU) within the Illinois Department of Corrections, providing clinical oversight for inmates with severe mental illness. She was instrumental in the development of eight Therapeutic Communities within this setting, which housed 350-400 inmates.
Jeanette has worked in a residential facility leading the clinical team in collaborating with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), County Probation Departments, Students in Transitional Education School (SITE) and community mental health providers as the Clinical Director of a youth home for adolescent girls. She facilitated the utilization of Dialectical Behavior Therapy as a treatment modality for the youth, which helped them gain coping skills for emotional regulation.
She has further experience working with a community mental health agency by leading an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) which provided comprehensive services for individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness. The goal for the individuals in the program was to decrease hospitalizations, increase stabilization and promote their independence in the community. Through Jeanette’s leadership the multidisciplinary team developed strategies to increase community contacts and individual and groups services, which resulted in less frequent hospitalizations.
Jeanette continues to work on an as needed basis as a consultant with the NWIL District Church of the Nazarene and New Church Specialties, providing assessments to help pastors determine if they have the skill set or gift mix to successfully start new churches.
She has worked in child welfare obtaining a Licensed Direct Child Welfare Service Employee status in 2007.
Jeanette has also worked with individuals with developmental disabilities seeking employment. She developed jobs and lead a team to obtain and maintain employment in the community with support from a job coach. In this setting she received the Employee of the Year award for developing jobs and connecting individuals with public transportation.
She assisted another agency with the expansion of services by leading a team to transition individuals from working in a sheltered workshop or attending day services to community-based services. In this agency she was promoted to Supported Employment Teams Consultant, where she then lead a team in obtaining and maintaining employment for individuals in the community.
Jeanette also has experience as a Family Teacher and Family Educator working in youth homes in Illinois.
Jeanette established her private practice in 2002 to offer life changing, counseling from a Christ-centered value system.
